(NFCA), a holding subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC), for a key secondary school in Chibuluma, Kalulushi District, Copperbelt Province, Zambia.
“Classrooms are the starting point for every child's future,” said Joseph Phiri, District Commissioner for Kalulushi, Copperbelt Province, Zambia. “Thank you, NFCA!”
On July 31 (local time), a new classroom block consisting of four rooms, funded and built by NFC Africa Mining Plc. (NFCA), a holding subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC), was officially handed over and put into use at a key secondary school in Chibuluma, Kalulushi District.
The facility will be managed by Zambia’s Ministry of Education. Nearly 300 people attended the inauguration ceremony, including the Kalulushi District Commissioner, the Mayor, the Kalulushi District Education Board Secretary, regional leaders of the United Party for National Development (UPND), teachers, students, parents, and local media representatives.
Together, they witnessed this meaningful, heartwarming act of support for local education by NFCA.
For years, students in Chibuluma have faced challenges due to a shortage of local secondary education facilities, often having to travel long distances to attend schools in Kalulushi.
The situation became even more pressing after Zambia’s New Dawn Government implemented a nationwide free education policy in 2021, resulting in a significant surge in enrollment and an acute shortage of classroom space.
Local people perform a show to express their gratitude to NFC Africa Mining Plc. (NFCA), a holding subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC), for funding and building a classroom block for a key secondary school in Chibuluma, Kalulushi District, Copperbelt Province, Zambia.
As a Chinese enterprise deeply rooted in the local communities and committed to social responsibility, NFCA promptly responded to the growing demand by funding and constructing the new four-classroom block.
With this timely initiative, NFCA has helped ease the pressure on educational infrastructure and enabled more students to learn in a safe and stable environment.
During the inauguration ceremony of the new building, students expressed their appreciation and excitement through lively performances.
In his speech, Phiri thanked NFCA for turning the vision of “attending school close to home” into a reality.
“Existing infrastructure is unable to keep pace with the demands of the free education policy. NFCA’s support comes at a critical moment—it is truly a godsend,” Phiri noted in his speech.
He praised the company’s swift and efficient response to the local education authority’s request, highlighting that NFCA’s sense of responsibility and efficiency are impressive.
The new classroom block is expected to directly benefit hundreds of students, significantly improving the school’s infrastructure and providing a better learning environment.
As the first Chinese mining enterprise established in Africa, NFCA has consistently embraced the principle of “Zambia-China Cooperation for Common Development,” actively supporting local initiatives in education, public welfare, and livelihoods to improve the quality of life for communities where it operates.
